Tension has reportedly gripped customers of PXES, an investment outfit operating in Adamawa State, following difficulties allegedly encountered by patrons trying to withdraw their funds.
The development reportedly led to a disruption at the organisation’s Yola office on Friday, with customers said to have vandalised the premises and removed some furniture and equipment.
PXES, which stands for Professionalism Excellence Evolution Solution, operates a savings scheme where patrons reportedly invest amounts ranging from about N21,600 to over N3 million, depending on their chosen category, with the promise of daily returns.
However, concerns reportedly emerged among customers in Adamawa after some patrons encountered problems accessing their funds.
A source familiar with the operation of the scheme said the situation became particularly tense on Friday because it is reportedly the designated withdrawal day for customers on the lower levels of the platform.
According to the source, customers on Levels 1 and 2 normally withdraw their weekly earnings on Fridays, making the reported difficulty in accessing funds a major source of concern.
Videos circulating on social media showed crowds gathered around the PXES office in Yola amid the reported unrest.
The office was also found under lock and key on Saturday, with the closure raising further concerns among customers. The development was said to be unusual, as the office reportedly normally operates even on Sundays.
The alleged incident has not, however, been officially confirmed by the Adamawa State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said he had not received an official report from the Divisional Police Officer responsible for the area as of the time of filing the report.
The circumstances surrounding the reported disruption, the status of customers’ funds and the reason for the alleged withdrawal difficulties remain unclear.
