Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos State has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
Professor Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, was born on August 4, 1962. She holds a PhD in Guidance and Counselling and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling, both from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
She succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure has expired, leading to her retirement from office.
The appointment was announced by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement issued on September 9, 2026.
The appointment is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure continuity in the leadership and administration of the university.
