The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the state, arresting 80 suspects and recovering six vehicles, firearms, ammunition and other exhibits within one week.

The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Wednesday at a press briefing held at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
He said the arrests were made during various intelligence-led operations conducted between October 1 and 7 to tackle armed robbery, vandalism, traffic robbery, recruitment fraud and other crimes.
Among the items recovered were four Beretta pistols, eight locally made pistols, four rounds of live 9mm ammunition, six vehicles, six mobile phones, six battle axes, four cutlasses, a toy gun and five sacks of suspected illicit drugs.
Tijani said nine suspects were arrested over alleged vandalism along the Coastal Road, while 19 others were apprehended in Tori-Lovi Community, Age-Mowo, for allegedly operating a fraudulent job recruitment scheme.
He added that 29 suspects were arrested over alleged traffic robbery along the Lekki-Epe axis.
The commissioner also disclosed the arrest of a 43-year-old alleged receiver of stolen vehicles at Ishawo Agric, Ikorodu, where four vehicles and seven number plates were recovered.
The vehicles included a Lexus RX 330 Jeep, a 2018 Toyota Camry, a 1999 Toyota Camry and a Ford vehicle.
Tijani further said 14 suspects were arrested in Maroko over alleged public nuisance, while an alleged gang leader was arrested in connection with the October 4 attack on a military officer and his family in Itire.
According to him, the hoodlums allegedly blocked the family’s vehicle, assaulted the officer and his wife, stole N300,000 and vandalised their vehicle.
The police also arrested a 28-year-old suspect accused of drugging a woman in Ikeja before allegedly stealing three mobile phones worth N3.02 million from her apartment.
Other arrests involved suspects linked to alleged armed robbery, phone snatching and vehicle theft, with additional stolen property recovered.
Tijani said the operations reflected the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention.
He urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies, assuring Lagos residents that the command would continue its operations against criminal networks and protect lives and property across the state.
