The Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), May Agbamuche-Mbu, has provided update on the Commission’s preparations for the Anambra governorship election and the Area Council election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking during the Commission’s quarterly consultative meeting with political parties on Tuesday in Abuja, Agbamuche-Mbu said INEC has completed ten activities outlined in the timetable for the Anambra election.
She listed the remaining activities as the publication of the Notice of Poll on October 25, the last day of campaigns on November 6, and the election itself scheduled for November 8, 2025. She reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting the election in line with the approved schedule.
Agbamuche-Mbu also gave an update on preparations for the FCT Area Council election, scheduled for February 21, 2026. The election will cover 68 constituencies, including Chairmen and Vice Chairmen for the six Area Councils, Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali, as well as 62 wards.
Each Area Council will have 10 wards, except for AMAC, which has 12 wards due to its larger population. She noted that out of 13 scheduled activities for the FCT election, eight have already been completed.
