Alex Ekubo, popular nollywood actor, has died at the age of 40.

The actor’s death was confirmed on Tuesday by some of his colleagues in the Nigerian movie industry, including Funke Akindele, Bolanle Ninalowo and Godwin Nnadiekwe.
Reacting to the development via her Instagram story, Akindele mourned the late actor and recalled their moments together.
“Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time, but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace,” she wrote.
Ninalowo also paid tribute to the deceased actor, praying for strength for his family and loved ones.
Nnadiekwe, in his reaction, described the news as heartbreaking, saying Nollywood had lost a rare soul.
As of the time of filing this report, the family of the actor had yet to issue an official statement on the cause of his death.
Ekubo had recently sparked concerns among fans after making his first public appearance following months of absence from social media.
The actor had not posted on Instagram since December 2024, leading to speculation about his wellbeing.
A video which later surfaced online showed him interacting with children, with many fans observing a noticeable change in his appearance.
Before his death, Ekubo was known for his roles in several Nollywood productions and remained one of the prominent faces in the Nigerian film industry.
