NPF Arrests Four Banditry Suspects, Recovers AK-47 Rifles in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing operations against banditry with the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State.

The operation, carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad, led to the arrest of Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.

Police said the arrests followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to banditry and other violent criminal activities in the region.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and one locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Authorities disclosed that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
