The Rivers state police command has arrested a wanted car snatching suspect in a viral video circulating on the social media space which depicts an armed robbery incident at Choba area of Port Harcourt, where a Toyota Avalon car was snatched by three armed robbery suspects.
The command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-koko in a statement said the incident which occurred on Wednesday was captured by a CCTV camera showing the arrested suspects Mr Young Iruo and one other robbing the occupants of their car and valuables, before zooming off with the car and their operational cars with a third suspect. The suspect is said to have voluntarily confessed to the crime, while also providing detailed information about his involvement in the robbery incident.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigation to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang, recover the stolen vehicle and retrieve the firearms used in committing the crime is ongoing. The Rivers Police Commissioner CP Olugbenga Adepoju while commending the operatives, expressed gratitude to the public for providing the CCTV footage and information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
