The Nigeria Police Force has secured the conviction of 21 foreign nationals linked to a major cybercrime syndicate uncovered in Abuja in November 2024.

In a statement by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public relations officer, the syndicate was busted on November 3, 2024, when operatives raided a building in Jahi, arresting 130 suspects including 113 foreigners, mainly Chinese and Malaysian nationals, and 17 Nigerians.
They were accused of large-scale internet fraud, hacking, and other offences threatening national security and economic stability.
Following investigations, the suspects were arraigned on December 2, 2024. On August 1, 2025, 21 were convicted and sentenced, while trials for the remaining defendants continue.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun said the convictions has become a strong warning to cybercriminals worldwide that Nigeria will not be a safe haven.
He pledged continued use of advanced technology, international cooperation, and thorough investigations to combat cybercrime.
