153 LASU Graduating Students Bag First Class As Management Kicks Off 27th Convocation

No fewer than 153 graduating students of Lagos State University (LASU) have bagged First Class first degrees in their respective programmes in the university.

This as a student of Accounting Education has emerged as the best graduating student wit CGPA of 4.98.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, made this known during a press conference held on Thursday at the University Senate Building, Ojo, Lagos to kick off the 27th convocation ceremony.

“I am happy to announce that Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale of the Accounting Education with a CGPA of 4.98 [First Class Honours] is our best-graduating students for the 2022/2023, while for Masters, OLAITAN AMINAT DAMILOLA with a CGPA of 4.78 (Educational Management) is the best graduating student for 2022/2023 in this year’s ceremony,” the VC announced.

It was announced that the 153 students were among 8,670 students that will be graduating for 1st Degree programmes in the university.

According the VC, 3029 students are graduating with second class Upper Division, 715 are graduating with second class Lower Division, 228 are graduating with a Pass, while 195 are graduating with Non-Classified Degrees.

Meanwhile, out of 554 Diploma students that are graduating for this year, 55 are with Distinctions, 274 with Upper credits, 224 with Lower credits and 1 with pass

Out of the 2164 Postgraduate students that are graduating, there are 375 Postgraduate Diplomas, 962 Academic Masters, 672 Professional Masters, 89 Doctor of Philosophy and 66 Professional Doctoral Degrees.

Prof Olatunji-Bello added that the convocation lecture titled, “Embracing the Future: Navigating the Intersection of Technology and Humanity”, would be delivered by former minister of works, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

The Convocation Lecture will be chaired by Emeritus Prof Peter Okebukola, who was until his retirement, a distinguished Professor of Science and Computer Education at the university.
