The winners of the 2nd Tosin Adesile Writing Essay Competition for University of Lagos Students in partnership with UNILAG Press Club have been announced.
The announcement was made at the 8th Ngozi Agbo media lecture organised by the University of Lagos Press Club.
According to the organisers, Oladeji feranmi came top in the essay competition and won the sum of N50,000 naira with a certificate while the 2nd prize winner, Ogundele Oluwatosin, won thirty thousand naira with a certificate and third prize winner, Iwebami Chimsunum won N20,000 with a certificate.
In his remarks, the visioner of the Essay Competition, Mr. Tosin Adesile, said it was an occasion to recognise young and outstanding youths for their hard work and creativity.
He advised young people not to jettison the idea of reading novels and books to improve their writing, saying that reliance on Artificial Intelligence will not only kill human intelligence but will make them appear without a style.
Tosin Adesile Essay Competition was founded by Mr Tosin Adesile to encourage young undergraduates to improve their writing and critical thinking skills.
The first edition was held in 2023 while the second edition in 2024 was a build up to the first.
