Edo State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists as efforts to sustain fight against cultism and other vices continues in Edo State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mosel Yamu, Edo State Police PRO, He said, “On 08/06/2025, acting on a distress call that some suspected cultists were sighted dehumanizing an okada rider at Peanut Junction along Sapele Road.
Operatives of the Love World Division immediately responded and arrested seven (7)suspects namely; Erick Charles 25yrs, Gift Nerese 24yrs, Odion Osaro 19yrs, Festus Osaghai 26yrs, Owas Ighodaro 19yrs, Samuel Sabi 22yrs, Destiny Bernard 20yrs while two (2) yet to be identified escaped. Two of the suspects confessed to be members of the Maphite Confraternity.
“One (1) pestle, one (1) matchete, one (1) live cartridge, and one (1) tricycle with reg no AUC 184 VH were recovered during the operation.
Investigation is ongoing and suspects will soon be charged to court.
“The Command’s house-to-house arrests of identified cultists is ongoing and will be sustained till cultism is brought to the barest minimum.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc assures the general public that the Command will continue to discharge its duty with utmost professionalism.”
