All students abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State, have been released.

The last group of 115 students regained freedom on Sunday, bringing the total number of rescued children to around 265, ending a harrowing month-long ordeal. The kidnappers seized 303 students and 12 teachers in the early hours of November 21, 2025, marking one of Nigeria’s largest recent mass abductions.
Following the attack, 50 students escaped on their own, while another 100 were freed on December 8 through sustained security operations. The final release has provided immense relief to families and is being celebrated as a significant success by the security agencies involved in the rescue.
