Onne Customs Generates Record N77.3bn Revenue in April

The Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt II Area Command, Onne, has recorded its highest monthly revenue collection, generating N77.3 billion in April 2026 in a significant boost to the Federal Government’s revenue drive.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Command Public Relations Officer, Paul Gimba, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller, Aliyu Alkali, the Command realised a total of N77,325,318,984.07 during the month.

The figure represents a 70.2 per cent increase compared to the revenue generated in April 2025 and is described as the highest monthly collection recorded since the establishment of the command.

Speaking on the achievement, Alkali attributed the feat to the leadership and policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, as well as the dedication of officers and stakeholders operating within the port.

“What we have achieved in April is a clear reflection of the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs and the collective commitment of our officers and stakeholders towards national economic growth,” he said.

The Customs boss explained that the improved performance resulted from deliberate operational reforms focused on trade facilitation, compliance enforcement, and revenue optimisation.

According to him, the command has continued to simplify cargo clearance procedures while removing avoidable bottlenecks to support legitimate trade activities.

“Our focus has been to create an efficient clearance process while ensuring full compliance with extant government fiscal policies. We understand that trade facilitation and enforcement must work side by side,” Alkali stated.

He added that the command had sustained a performance-driven culture aimed at surpassing revenue targets and improving the ease of doing business within the maritime sector.

“This is not just about revenue. It is about building confidence in our processes, improving operational efficiency, and contributing meaningfully to national development,” he said.

The Customs Area Controller commended officers and men of the command for their professionalism, discipline, and dedication, describing the achievement as a collective success.

“The success we recorded is a product of teamwork, integrity, and the discipline of our officers who remain committed to the mandate of the Service,” he added.

Alkali reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the momentum and contributing significantly to the economic objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service.
