In 2023, many Nigerians saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the smart choice because of his global exposure and experience in countries where systems work. Nigerians expected him to tackle insecurity with modern tools like drones, surveillance technology, intelligence-driven operations to protect lives across the country.

Unfortunately, insecurity has continued to worsen under the Tinubu administration.
From Oyo to Katsina, Jos to Kogi, Benue to Maiduguri, no part of Nigeria feels safe for ordinary citizens anymore. The recent abduction of 46 children and 6 teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday, 15th of May 2026, has further exposed the shambolic state of security in Nigeria.
It appears corruption within the security system remains a major obstacle, and President Tinubu has not been able to stop it within the Armed Forces. The poor masses continue to pay the price for failures of the Commander-in-Chief.
President Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, should order the entire Armed Forces to go into the forests and secure the immediate release of the abducted Oyo school children, teachers, and all other victims held by kidnappers across Nigeria.
If the Armed Forces are unable to secure their release through operations, the Federal Government should consider negotiation. The government should yield to kidnappers’ demands, pay ransom if necessary, or release arrested terrorists in exchange for the safe and unharmed release of abducted children and teachers held in deep forests.
Nigeria is going through trying times and nobody should politicize kidnapping and terrorism. People’s precious lives should not be used to gain political points. The government must be ready to go ruthless with whoever is sponsoring insecurity in Nigeria.
Tinubu should also call for help from advanced countries that have the capacity to fight banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping in Nigeria.
Terrorism and kidnapping must stop. Nigeria must be secure. Nigerians deserve to be secure. Citizens must now raise their voices and demand urgent action before more lives are lost.
