Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, recovering a suspected human body part, firearms, and several items believed to have been stolen from victims.

The arrest was made after officers intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus carrying six occupants. A search of the vehicle and its passengers led to the arrest of one of the occupants, identified as Samson Onilewaji.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspect was found in possession of a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, one Point of Sale (POS) terminal, and five ATM cards.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their personal belongings, including the recovered POS terminal and ATM cards.
The police said efforts are underway to identify and contact the victims to facilitate the return of the recovered items.
Investigators are also working to determine the identity of the owner of the recovered suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession, and its intended use.
The Command added that investigations have been expanded to identify and apprehend other suspects linked to the case, assuring that the arrested suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and other criminal activities across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information that would aid crime prevention and improve public safety.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to report emergencies and suspicious activities through its dedicated emergency lines.
The police reiterated their resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at ensuring the safety and security of lives and property throughout Lagos State.
