The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has expressed confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will publish the name of its governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The party attributed Adebutu’s omission from INEC’s list of candidates to alleged pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the development was motivated by fears of losing the election. However, the PDP did not provide evidence to substantiate the allegation in its statement.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the PDP’s Ogun State Publicity Secretary, Arc. Kayode Adebayo, maintained that Adebutu remained a registered member of the party and had complied with the requirements for its digital membership registration.
Adebayo said Adebutu’s party membership card had been printed and verified, adding that the candidate’s details were submitted to INEC within the stipulated period.
The party urged residents of Ogun State and its supporters to remain calm, insisting that the omission would not derail its preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
It also called on its members to remain steadfast and focused, expressing confidence in Adebutu’s candidacy while accusing the APC of attempting to distract the opposition through alleged political manipulation.
The PDP further maintained that it remained committed to its campaign for a change of government in the state, urging supporters to remain vigilant and undeterred as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The statement did not indicate whether the party had formally petitioned INEC over the omission or outlined any legal steps it intended to take to resolve the matter.
