MUSLIM MEDIA GROUP CALLS ON OIL MARKETERS TO REDUCE PETROL TO PRE-WAR PRICE OF ₦700 PER LITRE

A non-governmental organization, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has called for a return to the pre-war time petrol price since there is a ceasefire agreement between America and Iran.

It calls on the federal government to stop petroleum marketers from the continuous high cost of fuel products in Nigeria.
A statement by its National Coordinator Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi notes that the America – Israeli war with Iran that forced the prices of the petroleum products up had subsided following ceasefire agreement between Iran and America hence, there is no basis for petroleum marketers in Nigeria to keep the price of Premium Motor Spirit in particular (i.e. petrol) to above N1000 per litre.

The Group maintained that it amounts to economic sabotage against Nigerians for the marketers to continue to sell petrol above N1000, adding that petrol and diesel that have direct effect on common-man must have their prices forced down to below N1000.

The Media Group stated further that reports confirmed that in other parts of the world impacted by the war between America and Iran the people there had started enjoying reduced cost of fuel and wondered why such is yet to be witnessed in the country.

The Group therefore called on the Federal Government to intervain by stopping the petroleum marketers from prolonging the hardship of the people by ordering them to fall back to pre-war price of N700 per litre of petrol..

It also urges the Federal Competition Consumers Protection Commission (FCCPC) – under Federal Ministry, Trade, Industry, and Investment to act on the matter without further delay.

The Group commended the Dangote Group for leading the petroleum refining reform and its efforts in ensuring good pricing for petroleum products in Nigeria to relieve Nigerians of economic hardship.
