Ogun Police Deploy Maximum Operational Strength Along Sagamu–Benin Expressway After Security Incident

The Ogun State Police Command has deployed maximum operational strength to the Sagamu–Benin Expressway following a reported security incident around the J3 axis of the highway, assuring residents and motorists that the situation is under control.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on June 26, 2026.

According to the statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the Command responded promptly after receiving a distress report regarding the incident, which occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, directed the immediate deployment of four units of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and other tactical teams to the affected area.

The Command disclosed that an intensive bush-combing operation is currently underway, with security operatives making significant progress in tracking down the fleeing suspects, securing the corridor, and ensuring the safety of commuters and residents.

“The deployed operatives are dominating the area and making substantial operational progress in tracking the fleeing suspects while ensuring the safety of commuters and inhabitants of the corridor,” the statement said.

The Police Command stressed that there is no cause for panic, assuring members of the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property along the expressway.

The Command also urged residents and road users to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as efforts continue to apprehend the suspects and sustain peace in the area.
