The Local Government Election has commenced in Osun State with streets deserted as the government insisted on conducting the local government poll.
Osun State Governor, after voting in the election, appealed to the electorate to go about their activities without fighting, saying Osun people are peace lovers.
Hashim Abioye, OSSIEC Chairman in a viral video said the reason for the delay of materials in some polling unit is as a result of police harassment and arrest of his personal adding that arrangements are being made to get polling materials to all locations
It would be recalled earlier that the security advice from the Nigerian Police Force but went on to announce that the advice was rejected on the grounds of the rule of law and alleged police partisanship.
Moving around Osogbo streets, there is a high presence of police operatives at strategic points.
The security personnel had subjected the few vehicles moving to thorough checks.
