Tinubu Visits Maiduguri After Devastating Flood

President Bola Tinubu has visited the flood-ravaged Maiduguri over the recent devastating flood disaster.

Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri Monday to commiserate with the government and people of the state after the collapse of the Alau Dam that has left many residents displaced in Borno.

This comes days after his deputy, Kashim Shettima, paid a visit to the state.

During the visit, the President is expected examine the extent of damage done by the flooding, including taking a look the impact of the flood on residential houses, hospitals, markets, schools, and other public facilities.

The President was received in the state by Governor Babagana Zulum and other top government functionaries.The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed over 30 persons dead, while many others were displayed and properties destroyed.

The severe flooding, also collapsed the walls of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), which led to the disappearance of 274 inmates, according to NCoS spokesman Umar Abubakar, in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.

The catastrophic floods, caused by the collapse of the Alau Dam due to heavy rainfall, have devastated Maiduguri, marking the worst flooding in 30 years.
