Two teenagers allegedly associated with a terrorist group have fled their camp in Borno State and surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Monguno Local Government Area.
The teenagers, identified as 17-year-old Umar Mohammed and 13-year-old Aliu Hassan, reportedly surrendered to the troops at about 7:15 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Charlie 7 in Monguno town.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development, said the teenagers escaped from a terrorist camp in Martab, Marte Local Government Area, before making their way to the troops.
Preliminary questioning reportedly indicated that the teenagers decided to leave the camp because of the harsh conditions they experienced there.
They reportedly surrendered with only a wristwatch and a catapult in their possession.
The teenagers are currently being held by the Military Intelligence Branch at Headquarters Sector 3 for further investigation, while the recovered items have also been retained by the military.
The development adds to ongoing security efforts in the North-East, where troops continue to conduct operations against terrorist groups and receive individuals fleeing their camps.
