Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria First Lady has reiterated the need for Nigeria to give more attention to adult education, noting that when adults can read, write and acquire basic digital and financial skills, they are better equipped to improve their livelihoods, grow their businesses, make informed decisions, and support their children’s education.

This is in her message marking the 60th anniversary of International Literacy Day 2026 with the theme, “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity.”
Describing literacy as crucial to personal empowerment and national development, the First Lady says the anniversary is an important milestone and another opportunity to renew commitment to the cause of ensuring that no Nigerian is denied the opportunity to learn because of age or circumstance.
