The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has concluded comprehensive security deployments and operational arrangements ahead of the Ekiti State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, assuring residents and stakeholders of adequate security throughout the electoral process.

The Force said security personnel and operational assets have been strategically deployed across all polling units in the state, as well as critical infrastructure, major entry and exit routes, border communities, and other strategic locations to ensure a peaceful, credible, and hitch-free election.

Providing an update on the Force’s preparedness, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Election Security, CP Shogule Abayomi, disclosed that a multi-layered security architecture has been adopted to safeguard voters, electoral officials, observers, and election materials before, during, and after the exercise.

According to him, the deployment is designed to guarantee public safety and maintain law and order across the state throughout the election period.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reassured the public that all officers assigned to election duty have been adequately briefed on their responsibilities and rules of engagement.

He emphasized that personnel will carry out their duties professionally, impartially, and in strict compliance with the law to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process.

The Police also warned that electoral offences and any acts capable of undermining the integrity of the election would be met with appropriate sanctions in accordance with the Electoral Act and other extant laws.

Citizens were therefore urged to remain law-abiding and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election period.

To facilitate prompt response to security incidents, the Force announced the activation of a dedicated election emergency response line, 080062335577, which will remain operational throughout the election.

The Police encouraged residents to promptly report any security concerns through the hotline, assuring that all reports would receive timely attention and intervention.

The Force further urged eligible voters to come out peacefully to exercise their constitutional rights without fear or intimidation, while cautioning against the spread of false or unverified information capable of causing panic or disrupting public order.

Reaffirming its commitment to democratic governance, the Nigeria Police Force assured residents of Ekiti State of its determination to protect lives and property and ensure the conduct of a peaceful, transparent, and credible governorship election.

The Ekiti Governorship Election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with security agencies, electoral officials, political parties, and other stakeholders intensifying final preparations for the exercise.
