Ani Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, has confirmed that the Nigeria Police Force has commenced an internal administrative investigation into Moshood Jimoh, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, following allegations made by social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Iniedu said Jimoh had been invited for questioning as part of the Force’s internal accountability process, while Otse had also been summoned to provide evidence to support his allegations.
The police said the criminal matter linked to the allegations had already been investigated and was before a court of competent jurisdiction following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the statement, the Force will not allow public commentary or social media campaigns to influence the judicial process, stressing that the matter is sub judice and its determination rests solely with the court.
“The Force will not try this case in the media, nor will it allow its outcome to be shaped by public campaigns or commentary seeking to prejudge the officers or parties involved,” the statement read.
Iniedu disclosed that the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) invited Jimoh for questioning in connection with the allegations, while the FCID Headquarters in Abuja had earlier invited Otse to appear before investigators on July 30, 2026.
The Force said the steps underscore its commitment to investigating all credible allegations of misconduct through its established accountability mechanisms, including the FCID, the Force Complaint Response Unit and, where necessary, the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, regardless of the rank of the officer involved or the public profile of the complainant.
