The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu has strongly condemned the news in some media outlets that Kanu has forfeited his right to defense”l in the ongoing trial before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Recall that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja had on Friday fixed November 20th for Judgement in the Terrorism Charges against the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
A statement made available to Judiciary Corespondents in Abuja by Emma Powerful, the Spokesperson of IPOB said it is a desperate lie meant to mislead the public and cover up an illegal process.
The group insisted that What is happening in court is not a fair trial but a political show.
Powerful noted that Justice Omotosho and the prosecution has not been able to point to any valid, existing law that Nnamdi Kanu supposedly broke.
The statement cites Section 36 subsection 12 of the 1999 Constitution as amended that “A person shall not be convicted of a criminal offence unless that offence is defined and the penalty therefor is prescribed in a written law.”
Powerful noted that any court that ignores the Constitution becomes part of the problem, not the solution.
The IPOB therefore expresses full support to Kanu’s stand in refusing to legitimize what it calls illegality by entering a defense.
