Engr Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State has announced a restriction on the operations of commercial motorcycle riders across the state between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. as part of new security measures.
He made the announcement while addressing ongoing efforts to secure the release of abd¥cted victims in the state, assuring residents that the government remains fully committed to their safe return.
“We have not forgotten them, and we have not abandoned them,” the governor said, referring to those still in captivity.
He explained that although security operations cannot be fully disclosed, significant work is ongoing behind the scenes.
“We may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but I ask our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. A great deal of work is being done behind the scenes, and we remain fully engaged with all relevant security agencies,” he added.
On the new restriction, he stated: “Consequently, the operations of commercial motorcycle operators, formerly known as Okada riders, will now be restricted between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. throughout Oyo State.”
Makinde also urged residents to cooperate with authorities, stressing that security is a shared responsibility, and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activity.
