Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has assured residents and visitors of their safety, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining security across the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday following a meeting of the Lagos State Security Council attended by top security officials, including representatives of the Armed Forces, the Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Speaking after the meeting, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos remains secure despite its status as Nigeria’s commercial hub and a major destination for local and international investors.

He noted that the state is currently hosting the third edition of the Invest in Lagos Summit, an international investment forum that has attracted both foreign and local investors seeking opportunities to establish or expand businesses in the state.

“We are hosting an international event, Invest in Lagos 3.0, which has been well attended by foreign and local investors, who are eager to either expand their investments here or start fresh businesses,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, will continue to strengthen measures aimed at protecting lives and property.

“We will continue to be vigilant and ensure that our residents and visitors are well protected. Lagos remains safe and we will keep it so,” he stated.

The governor later proceeded from the State House in Marina, where the Security Council meeting was held, to the venue of the investment summit. During his address, he introduced the security chiefs present at the event and invited them to stand for recognition, drawing applause from participants.

Those at the security meeting included Brigadier-General Ayokunle Owolabi, Commander of the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army; Commander A. Adams-Aliyu, Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft; Air Commodore Mohammed Imam, Commander of the 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja; and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, who was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police Adesina Lawal. The Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) was also in attendance.

The governor’s assurance comes amid ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government and security agencies to sustain peace and create an enabling environment for business, investment, and economic growth.
