Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued thirteen kidnapped victims during separate intelligence-led operations in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

The successful operations also led to the recovery of two vehicles and the disruption of terrorist activities in the affected communities.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the first operation was carried out by troops of Sector Two in Bagega following credible intelligence on the movement of armed terrorists on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.
The statement says the troops, supported by real-time surveillance, pursued and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their mission.
A follow-up search of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation at Unguwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence reports of terrorist activity and engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle.
The terrorists were forced to retreat, abandoning eight kidnapped victims, while two vehicles were also recovered during the operation.
The statement adds that all thirteen rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further care and support.
It notes that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA are sustaining offensive operations across the North-West, maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and denying them freedom of movement.
