Four persons have died in a road crash that occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday at the Ijebu-Imushin axis of the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway in Ogun State.

The crash, attributed to speeding, involved a white Toyota Hiace bus (registration number BDJ 482 XC) and a blue MAN Diesel truck (registration number RSH 969 XC) belonging to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the incident occurred at about 11:16 p.m.
According to her, all four occupants of the bus—two adult males and two adult females—sustained fatal injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene, with no survivors recorded.
Preliminary findings indicate that speeding was the primary cause of the crash. Odunsi-Oyewole explained that the truck was being towed when the towing chain snapped, leaving it stationary on the road.
“The speeding Toyota Hiace bus subsequently rammed into the stationary truck. Following the collision, the driver of the towing vehicle fled the scene, leaving the truck behind,” she added.
She further noted that rescue operatives arrived at the scene within eight minutes of receiving the distress call, and the victims’ remains were evacuated to the State Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Imushin Division have taken custody of the vehicles involved and commenced further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwunmi Fasakin, urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, especially at night, and ensure that towing equipment meets safety standards to prevent avoidable accidents.
In a related development, one person died and three others were injured in a separate crash on March 2 at Aiyetoro Junction in the Epe area of Lagos State. The accident involved a truck loaded with yams and a commercial tricycle, and occurred when the truck reportedly lost control while attempting a U-turn, colliding with the tricycle.
